Ronald McDonald House: Project Design 2013

MT Custom was honored to donate our time and handcraft to this very worthy endeavor. Sponsored by Kravet, Cottages & Gardens, Benjamin Moore, Lumber Liquidators, Hansgrohe and other major design industry brands, The Ronald McDonald House of Long island underwent a complete renovation with rooms designed by some of the industry’s best, including event chair Tony Baratta, Matthew Patrick Smythe, Bunny Williams, Jamie Drake and our own Creative Director, Michael Tavano. We were delighted to contribute custom clothwork to Drake Design Associates’ room as well as to Michael’s room. Kravet’s amazing outdoor fabrics made ideal custom bedding for this installation where everything needs to be repeatedly washed, including the “upholstery” which are actually removable, washable, form fitting slipcovers for the custom headboards and box springs. Here are some shots of Michael’s room:

This shaped, upholstered and reticulated custom valence and coordinating drapes and Roman shade use three different fabrics in warm and cool tones to create a focal point in this family-friendly room. We even made a custom shower curtain and installed a track in the ceiling for a luxurious floor-to-ceiling effect.
